Opt Out

Students who already have extended health insurance coverage through another provider, may opt-out from the health plan. The deadline to opt-out is February 14, 2024 for Winter 2024 start students. If you wish to opt-out, you will be able to complete the online form on this site after the 10-day count at Canadore (on or shortly after January 24, 2024).

Note: The current online opt-out is available to full-time students starting in January 2024 only.

If you are currently enrolled in a plan with a start date of September 2023, please be aware that while the online opt-out will accept your request, you are not eligible to opt-out of the plan you are currently enrolled in and no refund will be processed.

You must have Provincial Healthcare Coverage and an extended health insurance to opt out from the plan.

This option is not available to International Students.

How It Works

2. Apply account coverage for family members

To add insured family members, click on “Patient Profiles” from the dashboard. In “Account Settings” under the “Coverage” tab, add the relevant guard.me policy numbers.

3. Chat With A Doctor

Click the “See The Doctor” button and a Maple doctor will respond to you in minutes. You can have your consultation by text, video, or audio chat.

4. Get a diagnosis, prescription, or lab requisition

Doctors can diagnose injuries and illnesses, write prescriptions, and provide lab requisitions, all within your consultation. Please note that only eligible prescriptions and lab requisitions are covered by guard.me and can only be provided if you are in Canada.
