Opt Out

As an International Student beginning a program at Cape Breton University on September 1, 2023, you will be automatically enrolled in guard.me@CBU’s Health Programs for in-Canada coverage, as of September 1, 2023.  These plans are mandatory for students who are studying in-Canada and are a condition of studying at CBU.

Opt-out period: Tuesday, September 19 to Saturday, September 30, 2023

Am I eligible to opt-out of the plan(s)?

If you have a valid MSI Provincial Health card that covers you for the entire policy year period, September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024, you are eligible to opt-out of the guard.me @CBU Plan A only. If your MSI card does not extend coverage for the entire period of September 1, 2023 and August 31, 2024, you are not eligible to opt out of this program.

The guard.me @CBU Plan B - Supplementary Health and Dental Benefit program, including Keep.me.SAFE, is mandatory to all registered CBU Students who possess valid MSI and opting out is not available. Should you have questions about this, please contact the International Student Advisor Office for more information.

Please note:

**When entering your CBU ID number in the opt-out portal, remove the first ‘0’ when inputting the number.

 

Please save the email you receive from guard.me confirming that you have successfully opted-out for your records.
